Is the program authentically Catholic?

Absolutely! Our Catholic faith is integrated into the academic material as much as possible. We have child-led daily prayers as well as a virtue curriculum we follow. Families have the opportunity to go to mass together each day at 8:15 am before our sessions begin.

What curriculum does the hybrid follow?

We follow an authentic Montessori scope and sequence with trained teachers. This isn’t just an enrichment day with peers but two days a week of rigorous academic work that can be incorporated into your homeschooling routine.

Since it is only two days a week what is the academic focus?

We focus more on math and language arts. Science and history are incorporated with the “great lessons” in the elementary room. The primary room has the four basic areas of math, language, practical life, and sensorial. Art and music will be at a minimum as those can easily be supplemented at home or elsewhere.

What should we do on the days the hybrid isn’t in session?

We assist with help outside of the two days on what to teach if this is something you’d like. There isn’t a set guideline as to what exactly you must do between your days at the hybrid. Some good ideas would be to take a field trip to learn more about what the child has been studying, do some art, take a music class, and/or just work through a homeschool curriculum that you like that would be supplemental to the program.

Is Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) offered during the two days?

We hope to offer it in the future but it is not currently incorporated into our program.

What is the space like at SPX?

The space at SPX is wonderful- the classrooms are large and have a ton of natural light coming in. There is a large room with an updated kitchen that we use as a lunch room that is adjacent to a nice patio area with picnic tables that we use when the weather permits. There is a lot of outdoor green space with a community garden.

Do the children wear uniforms?

The children are required to wear specific uniforms. They are simple and you can get them from stores around town. More specifics on uniforms can be found on the parent’s page after you enroll.

Is this a drop off program or are parents required to help?

There may be a small need for parents to volunteer on a rotating basis but on a daily basis, it is a drop-off program.
